Is the Medical Profession Devolving?

Will the practitioner of medicine be recognizable thirty years from now? One internist from Texas isn’t so sure.

Bryan Vartabedian, MD, a pediatric gastroenterologist at Baylor College of Medicine, sees three external forces shaping the practice of medicine:

  • Technology
  • Third-party control
  • Patient Empowerment

and says physicians will have less and less control over the shape of things to come.
