Nobody is safe from hackers these days – even your grandmother. In a post on Engadget, scientists from MIT have developed a “shield” to protect pacemakers from being hacked. Since practically any electronic medical device can be tampered with, the scientists have developed a “cloak” that keeps the device protected until the doctor downloads the appropriate encryption key. The concern is that hordes of elderly patients could be remotely controlled and used as weaponized soldiers [n.b. – the last sentence isn’t true].
