Change Management Basic Concepts – Video

We continue with our series of videos on dealing with resistance to change (see also Overcoming Resistance to Change) inherent in technology implementations such as EMR (for some basics on EMR, check out our EMR Simply Put videos). This video introduces some of the basic concepts for the change management process and is one out of a series of study aids for students studying the topic at Charles Sturt University, by Marco Cattaneo.

While not all of these points of discussion apply to the typical medical practice, there is still some valuable take-home information here for your EMR implementation project:

  1. Fail to plan = Plan to fail
  2. There should be one project manager
  3. Always keep your IT (information technology) person/firm in the loop on major decisions
  4. Do not allow any unauthorized changes to your plan
